"Ern Baxter's preaching style is not in the American Pentecostal tradition at all. There is no ranting, no table-thumping, very little overt emotionalism and no shouting. He relies heavily on notes and in small gatherings favours the blackboard and other visual aids. His methadology is to build up strong arguments by means of biblical exposition and original hermaneutics. Like most of the Fort Lauderdale Five, he makes elaborate use of typology and Old Testament incidents which are then read into New Testament and present day".

"Baxter was the elder statesman of the group known as the 'Fort Lauderdale' ... they had been in existance since 1960's. Baxter and Mumford were probably were the most liked of the five. Their personalities were attractive and their manner gracious".
